- Oil Change Maintenance Tips: Clean and dry the filter surface before removal for better contact. If needed, place a thin cloth between the jaws and filter to improve engagement. Position the wrench near the base, apply inward pressure, and turn counterclockwise with steady, even force to help keep the jaws engaged and reduce slipping. For installation, hand-tighten only - apply a light coat of oil to the gasket and avoid over-tightening
